The whole school focus for this term is Global Citizenship so to embrace this we celebrated Chinese New Year.
We looked at the Chinese zodiac and learned about the rotation of twelve animals - 2019 is the Year of the Boar. We also matched the characteristics of the animal of the year of our birth to our own. It was amazing to see the similarities!
Some children researched Nian and how the Chinese celebrate , whilst others retold the zodiac story. The children also discovered the colour red is very important and made gift envelopes and lanterns. They also tasted fortune cookies.
Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and the older sister who attended our Chinese New Year Parent Cafe in the afternoon. The paper dragons looked fantastic.
Please take time to look at the photos.
