Larger or smaller shadows?

Our latest experiment was to find out what happened to the shadow when the light source was closer or further away from an object.

We set up a whiteboard to act as a screen then placed a little model person 10cms away from it. We held a torch a further 10cms from the model and measured how tall the shadow was. Then we moved the torch away at intervals of 10cms and measured the shadow each time.

We made sure it was a fair test by keeping the model the same distance from the screen all the time and just moving the torch.

What do you think happened? Perhaps you could have a go to find out!
